Lower School Curriculum
at Devonshire House School
Children learn in different ways and the Lower School caters for all learning styles and encourages independent thinking and learning through experience. There is strong emphasis on developing confidence in reading, writing and numeracy, and also on independent thinking.
Expression in all forms of communication, creativity and innovation is encouraged throughout and the curriculum includes lessons in Art, Music, Drama and Technology.
Pupils develop confidence in their speaking and listening skills and have the opportunity to perform before an audience in drama performances and in concerts, and during sharing assemblies throughout the year, to which parents are very welcome.
There is a full programme of educational visits, which support the learning taking place in the classroom. Special events are celebrated, either in the classroom or during assemblies.
