The Nursery School

at Devonshire House School

There are two groups in the Nursery: Nursery Acorns and Nursery Oaks. Good early foundations, taught with kindness and interest, help children grow into happy and well-rounded individuals.

Children begin their journey in Nursery Acorns, where a variety of sessions are available, from mornings only, to all day.  The day is carefully arranged so that children attending different sessions are able to make the most of their whole time in the Nursery.

Children attending Nursery Acorns (from the age of two) have a wide creative curriculum, enabling them to explore, investigate and ‘have a go’ and to calmly learn, laugh and enjoy their time with their new friends.

The transition to Nurery Oaks (from three to four) is supported by the child’s Teacher and other staff. Children are excited to move up through the School, and they are introduced to a little more structure at each stage, but still with nurturing care and with a full programme of early learning and play continuing to build confidence.

The School gives children as much time outside as possible and children have access to three playgrounds and the Forest School.  They can also participate in Ballet and Yoga lessons and other suitable Extra Subjects, which are taught by specialist staff.
