Games

Building character and skills

Aside from the obvious benefits to physical and mental health, sport builds the character and skills your child will require as they navigate their future: confidence, resilience, perseverance, collaboration, motor planning, lateral thinking, managing emotions in victory and defeat.

That’s why we place such an emphasis on sport. We want your child to find enjoyment from an early age, to take part and have fun so they are inspired by sport, and are keen to participate.

Games

Sports for all

Our ethos is sport for all.

Yes, there are things for the higher levels, but we leave no one out and will meet your child where they are, encouraging and challenging them thoughtfully, ensuring they access the sense of personal achievement that sport brings. It’s one of the reasons we have C, D E and F teams wanting to represent the school here.

Curriculum

The time devoted to sport builds gradually from 1 specialist PE lesson a week in Nursery to 3 hours of PE and Games a week from Year 2, and 5 hours from Year 4. Fixtures with local independent schools start in Year 3, with hotly contested internal competitions between the houses alongside.

Sports Facilities

Sports Facilities

In addition to our own indoor and outdoor spaces used for PE, we use a variety of high-quality external facilities for sports. From Year 2, your child will travel by executive coach to:

  • Stone X Stadium
  • Royal Free Recreation Club
  • North London Cricket Club
  • Power League Football Centre
  • Georgians Tennis Academy
  • Barnet Copthall Playing fields
