Devonshire House offers academic scholarships to children entering Year 3 (7+) and Year 4 (8+) who demonstrate exceptional ability through their performance in the Scholarship examination. It is expected that two scholarships, one in each year group, of up to 50% of the fees will be awarded, however the school reserves the right not to make an award should a suitable candidate not be found.
The Scholarship is open to both internal and external candidates. External candidates, once they are registered, should attend the standard assessments and, if exceptional ability is shown in this assessment, candidates may be invited back to sit the Scholarship examination which will take place in the Summer Term.
Candidates sit tests in Mathematics (Mental Maths and a General Maths paper) and English (Reading Comprehension and a Written Composition) Year 2 candidates are expected to be performing around Level 3 of the National Curriculum and Year 3 candidates bordering on Level 4.
Children do not need to bring any pens or pencils with them on the day, although they may if they wish. They should bring a coat for outdoor break. We will provide them with a drink and a snack at break, but should they have any special dietary needs please let us know on the application form.
For external candidates, there will be a registration fee of £100 per child. A deposit of £2,500 is required once an offer is made and is refundable after the child’s final term with us.
Parents of all children, regardless of their financial status, must abide by our terms and conditions and acceptance of these will be required in writing.
