Around 30% of our children are from overseas, from over 50 countries worldwide, creating a diverse, non-denominational and inclusive community, reflective of our location in a global city. Yet, the warmth of this community spirit has a village feel, bringing belonging, connection and a network for the whole family.
Our Admissions team is very experienced in working with international families and is able to guide them smoothly through the process.
For all applications to our school, we require the latest current school’s reports, translated in English if relevant. That way, our academic team will be able to make a decision to offer a place to our school.
For entry to Year 7 and Year 8 only, children are invited to an online ‘Get to Know You’ session with our Head of School, before we are able to offer a place.
Once at school, we offer English as an Additional Language (EAL) specialist support where needed, therefore, before the age of 7, we do not need to assess the level of English for children coming from a non English-speaking country.
For entry into our Year 4 and above (age 8+), our Head of School or Deputy Head will assess the level of English of children through a casual conversation in an online call, once the offer has been accepted by the parents, after which we could recommend to work with our affiliated tutoring company at Dukes Education.
Devonshire House School is officially accredited by the Community Liaison Office (CLO) of the U.S. Embassy London, after an accreditation visit from the Regional Education Officer from the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Overseas Schools.
Many diplomatic families from the U.S. Embassy have chosen Devonshire House for their children, whether it is for a long or short period of time. Our staff is very familiar with the American education system and its discrepancies with the British one, and will be able to guide you through the application process with ease.
The school runs a bus service from Maida Vale, St John’s Wood and Abbey Road, to Devonshire House School, powered by smart transportation company Zeelo.
Zeelo provides bus services and tools for schools across the country with services built on technology, including online booking platforms, 24/7 customer support, live vehicle tracking and status notifications for every service.

Dukes Education is a family of nurseries, schools, and colleges in the UK and Europe. As part of Dukes Education, we have a collection of complementary education offerings for our parents, including private tutoring. We often recommend parents of young non-English speakers to work with Dukes Education prior to their entry into our school. This helps children who might feel nervous about joining a new school in a new country for the first time.
