ICT & Pastoral

ICT

The use of technology is an integral part of the curriculum and is used daily in each classroom in the form of interactive whiteboards. Pupils are actively involved in their own learning, for example, using interactive games in Maths and English, and accessing the internet as a means of research in other subjects. All pupils participate in a weekly ICT lesson to enable pupils to develop their computer and keyboard skills independently.

Pastoral

In the Junior School all children are allocated a House to which they belong and are able to earn points for good work, effort and behaviour. The children also take part in the Stay on Green scheme, which encourages children to make positive choices about their own behaviour, consolidating the Golden Rules to which we all adhere to here at Devonshire House. Pupils care about themselves, each other and their environment and are rewarded for good behaviour with badges, stickers, certificates and sometimes, even a special mention in the ‘Golden Book’ in Friday assembly! Academic achievement is also very much recognised, with pupils invited to share good work in assemblies as well as receiving achievement badges and certificates to celebrate working hard and always trying their best. The P3 children take on prefect duties, giving them a sense of responsibility in preparation for the transition to Upper School.
